Cosmic bliss of the senses awaits you!Red Velvet Musings is a platform for original stream-of-consciousness creativity in all of its written forms: prose, essays, aphorisms, humor, short-stories, and verse in its many guises, including traditional haiku, as well as free-form poetry and micropoetry, covering a broad range of subjects such as love, relationships, seasons, nature, time, the moon and stars, colors, the mind and its inner workings, and much more. Much of the writing is paired with visual stimuli, such as public domain art, that enhance the reader’s experience. It is an ongoing labor of love that is cathartic, gratifying, and self-indulgent at times, intended to feed ones appetite for creativity, fun, and beauty while also offering a philosophical examination of life - all spoon-fed in bite sizes that will tantalize the senses for more.
What is micropoetry?Micropoetry or shortform poetry is characterized by its brevity as the names infer and can be either free form without any specific rules with regard to structure, or it can be a traditional, structured form of poetry such as haiku and tanka. Traditional haiku is characterized by 17 syllables in 3 lines or phrases of 5-7-5 syllables, whereas tanka is presented with 22 syllables in 5 lines or phrases of 5-7-5-5 syllables. There has been a resurgence of interest in and appreciation for these various types of short form poetry.
